Perplexity is introducing AI agents designed to keep work moving across a workspace. Called Teammates, they can take on different roles, use existing projects, skills, and memory from Perplexity tools, and handle assigned work simultaneously.
Agents intended for continuing work
Teammates are described as always-on agents. Rather than focusing only on a single request, Perplexity says they are meant to collaborate on ongoing, large-scale work. Users can assign different jobs to separate Teammates, allowing several tasks to proceed at once.
The agents draw on projects and skills already in use, along with memory from Perplexity tools. That setup is intended to give them context from a workspace as they work through responsibilities, instead of treating each assignment as wholly separate.
How Teammates connect to Perplexity Computer
The feature integrates with Perplexity Computer, the company’s AI system that can deploy agents on a user’s device to complete tasks. Perplexity describes Teammates as building on top of Computer, with an emphasis on collaboration and work that continues at larger scale.
The distinction presented by Perplexity is the move from agents that complete tasks on a device to a set of agents that can operate in parallel across ongoing projects. The company’s description places coordination and continuity at the center of the product.
Following progress in the app and Slack
Users can monitor each Teammate through an individual thread in the Perplexity app. They can also interact with the agents in Slack, giving teams a way to check in and communicate without limiting the work to the app’s threads.
This gives the feature two points of contact: task-specific threads for tracking progress and Slack for interaction. Perplexity has not provided further operational details in the source announcement, so the precise range of tasks and collaboration workflows is not specified.
A premium plan and a larger ambition
Access to Teammates requires Perplexity’s $200 / month Max plan. That makes the feature a premium offering for users and organizations considering always-on AI agents for work.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas says, “Over time, we envision every org having hundreds of teammates working for each person,” on X. The statement sketches an expansive vision for workplace AI: many agents sharing tasks with each person, supported by existing workspace context and available for ongoing assignments.
For now, the announcement centers on the product’s core promise: multiple AI agents, assigned separate jobs, able to work simultaneously and remain accessible through Perplexity and Slack. Its practical value will depend on how well these agents handle the continuing work that Perplexity says they are built to support.
