Build Live Dashboards and Animated Videos with Claude

Anthropic has introduced two beta features for Claude: Dashboards, which turns connected data sources into live dashboards, and Motion, which creates animated explainer videos. Dashboards is available to paid users, while Motion is limited to Team and Enterprise plans.

These routine beta features make data visualization and video creation easier, with only a mild potential to increase dependence on AI-generated outputs.

Build Live Dashboards and Animated Videos with Claude

Claude can now turn text prompts into live data dashboards and animated explainer videos. Anthropic introduced both capabilities in beta, adding ways to turn connected business data and visual source material into outputs people can work with.

Turn connected data into live dashboards

Dashboards links Claude to data sources including BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, and Salesforce. A user can describe a dashboard in a text prompt, and Claude can create one that updates as the underlying data changes.

Each number in a dashboard shows the query behind it. That gives viewers a way to inspect how a figure was produced, rather than treating it as an unexplained result. Anthropic says dashboard results can also be piped into tools such as Amplitude, Grafana, or Hex.

The feature could make it easier to move from a question about company data to a reusable view of that data. The source connections provide the inputs, while the prompt describes what the user wants to see. The query detail offers a path to check individual figures, and integrations let results flow into other tools.

Create animated explainers with Motion

Motion makes animated explainer videos from text, diagrams, and images. The resulting videos are editable as code and can be exported as MP4 files.

That combination gives users a route from source material to a video they can revise and share. Text can establish the explanation, while diagrams and images can contribute visual information. Code-based editing means the result remains adjustable after its initial generation.

Anthropic's description points to a different workflow from building a dashboard. Dashboards organizes and presents live data; Motion turns supplied material into an animated explanation. Both start with a text prompt, but they produce different kinds of output.

Access depends on the plan

The two beta features have different availability. Dashboards is available for paid users, while Motion is available on Team and Enterprise plans.

Anthropic is also changing access to three existing tools. Docs, Slides, and Design are leaving beta and will work across all plans, including free accounts. The company says users have created more than 45 million documents with these tools.

That usage suggests Anthropic's document and presentation features have found a broad audience. The move of Docs, Slides, and Design across plans also means people on free accounts can use them, while access to the new dashboard and video capabilities remains tied to paid tiers.

Claude Design is moving into the main app

The earlier announced Claude Design will be folded into the main app by December 14. Anthropic has made a migration guide available for that change.

Together, the updates extend Claude's role from generating written material to producing dashboards and animated videos from prompts. For users, the practical choice will depend on the task: connect data and monitor changing figures with Dashboards, or turn text and visuals into an explainer with Motion. Plan availability determines who can use each new beta feature.
