Build a Travel Wardrobe Around What You Already Own

Meta’s Style Sketch uses wardrobe photos to suggest outfits and create virtual try-ons. It can also build day-by-day travel plans around a destination, itinerary and weather forecast; the app is currently available in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.

The app may encourage reliance on AI for outfit choices, but it is a routine convenience feature with only a mild idiocracy lean.

Build a Travel Wardrobe Around What You Already Own

Style Sketch, a new AI fashion app from Meta, turns photos of clothing into a digital wardrobe and uses that collection to suggest outfits. Users can also plan looks for a trip, with recommendations organized by day and informed by the destination, planned activities and weather forecast.

A digital closet built from photos

The app can connect to Instagram to assemble a virtual closet from clothes users have already posted. People can also add garments themselves by taking a photo, recording a short video or uploading images from their camera roll.

Once items are in the closet, Style Sketch proposes outfit combinations based on the wardrobe and the user’s style. The app description says users can preview outfits on a realistic model matched to their body shape and skin tone.

Users do not have to accept a broad recommendation and start from there. They can choose one specific item from their wardrobe and ask for new outfit ideas built around it. That makes the digital closet useful as a way to explore different combinations of clothes already on hand.

Outfit planning for trips

Style Sketch also offers a travel-planning feature. Users enter a destination, how long the trip will last and the activities they have planned. The app can then prepare an outfit plan for each day, taking the weather forecast and itinerary into account.

This shifts the task from choosing a single look to organizing a set of clothes for a trip. The recommendations draw on the same wardrobe users have added, so the proposed plan is tied to their own clothing rather than a separate catalog.

The source article describes these features through the app’s description and a post by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who first spotted the app. It does not establish how the suggestions are produced or how well they perform in everyday use.

Instagram could set it apart

AI wardrobe tools already exist. The article points to startups such as Alta and notes that Google Photos also lets people turn clothing photos into digital closets and create outfit ideas.

Against that backdrop, Style Sketch’s connection to Instagram may be central to its appeal. The platform can provide a visual record of a person’s style, which could make it easier to build a wardrobe without adding every item one at a time.

The app therefore combines several familiar tasks—cataloging clothes, finding combinations and planning what to pack—in one place. Its value will depend in part on whether users find the Instagram-based closet convenient and the resulting suggestions useful.

Limited availability, broader app push

Style Sketch is available on iOS and Android in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Meta did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment, and it is not known whether the company plans to release the app more widely.

The launch is part of a broader wave of Meta apps. The article also cites Waddle World, Pocket and Vibes as recent releases. It reports that the Wall Street Journal said CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees the company planned to release far more apps than it historically had, with AI-driven efficiencies making it faster and easier to ship them.

For now, Style Sketch’s rollout is limited, and its reach beyond the three listed countries remains uncertain. Its approach pairs AI outfit suggestions and virtual try-ons with a personal wardrobe drawn from photos—a combination Meta may be able to build on through Instagram integration.
